Years ago, I was invited to attend a Buddhist meditation group started by my daughter and one of her friends. Members of the group were very accepting of one another and of me. I felt safe and seen. It was calming to sit quietly with other people while we each focused on our breath, and to gently bring myself back to my breath when my mind drifted. The idea of compassion for oneself and others, and belief in the oneness of all, felt good and comfortable and familiar.

Throughout my life, my art often has been about peace and about all of us being one family. Early artwork often used Bible stories to convey my hope and beliefs. Since practicing meditation and learning about Buddhist thought, these themes continue in more varied ways.
