I like that the stories of the Bible reflect how all people have the same human needs and responses—and that the Old Testament has meaning for Christians, Muslims and Jews. This similar framework helps my Bible-themed artwork communicate with viewers.

As a child, I wished there were strong independent women in the Bible. In art school, our art history book mentioned only a handful of women artists. Although there are efforts to change, imbalance continues today in most museums and art galleries, as well as in businesses and professions. Many of my Biblical appliqués and paintings have equality as their theme.
